In the Groove of the Move
We are half-way through our move to Nashville and packing up the last of it this weekend to make it final. It's almost surreal, especially given that we'll be back at least twice this fall, that we really don't live in Atlanta anymore. We're really sad to leave our friends here. But we are totally excited to start a new chapter in our lives in Nashville. And you Atlantans and Savannahites better rev up your engines for a road trip to the Country Music Capitol! We'll be ready to host some guests in the new Perry household real soon. :)

Engagement Pics are Posted!
At long last, Keoni has posted our engagement pics. We think:
a.) Keoni is talented and the wedding photos are going to be fab
b.) Julia SERIOUSLY needs a tan
c.) Sexy, come-hither, kissy poses are just not our style
d.) Bridesmaids may have to be on fanning duty and groomsmen on towel-down patrol to keep Will from completely drenching in sweat if it's a hot day
What do you think? Let us know your favorites.

Engagement Pics
This past weekend was a wild one. We traveled up to Louisville, KY for our friends' wedding. It was simply lovely and made us so very excited for our own.
On the way back, we spent Saturday night with my parents and then did an engagement shoot with our photographer, Keoni K as well as some informal house hunting. We'll have pics from the shoot posted to this blog soon - we're really looking forward to seeing what he has in store for us.

Rings, Scratches, and Cards
So we spent the weekend doing wedding stuff and my ring was in so we went and picked it up ... whoa ...
I put it on and immediately began to shake it off (if you didn't know I have an issue with jewelry) so I decided to wear it for awhile to try and get used to it. We also found out that every finger on my left hand was the same size (14) ... except the pinky, thumb included though.
I got used to it for awhile, but I did manage to scratch it up a bit. Anyone who knows me should expect nothing less. Mimi always calls me a 'bull in a china shop' so this should have been of no surprise to Julia, but she was a bit upset.
We also got our save the date cards taken care of. 4 months to go and we are on track =)

The wedding bells are coming .. yes it must be getting close
Well if anything puts a wedding in perspective it's rings. Julia and I were out looking for rings the other day mostly for her eternity band, but luck would have it found mine instead ... lucky for me I didn't have to come off the $ for her other one yet that is =)
Turns out I am pretty simple and the titanium band is pretty non invasive (for those who don't know me I hate having things on my including jewelery, watches, etc)
... its in and I am excited

Sentimental Stuff!
Yes, I can be sentimental and caring, and just to show how far that goes we have been frantically searching for ways to include those who mean so much to me, but are no longer with us, in the wedding! David and Papa.
Well luck would have it that David was the ring bearer in my Aunt Faye's wedding and low and behold she still has the pillow, which will also carry our rings also.
Finding Papa in the wedding may be an easy spot for some who are close to the family, but for others you may wonder why there is a 1940's wedding cake topper with a man in a Navy Uniform, well that's because its Papa and Mimi's wedding cake topper and he was a Navy Pilot.
I thought it was the perfect way to bring them along for the ride and will make the day all the more special for Julia and I.

Stop and Smell the Dahlias and Ranunculus ...

No roses here!
Isn't Chase Rivers at Eye Design Floral a smartie pants? These are just exactly the kind of look I was going for.

Our Photographer is The Bees Knees
We had a little drama around our wedding photographer. We started with a photographer that we were extremely excited about. But she decided to take another wedding on October 11 (despite the fact that she had our signed contract in hand).
But we think this is actually a blessing because our new photographer is really, really cool. Check him out here. His work is very artsy and funky but he promises there will be photos that everyone will love and appreciate, even if they have conservative tastes. So don't be surprised if you see him stretched out on the ground or hanging off the rafters or something - he's probably just looking for an interesting angle for that shot. :) Will and I are really looking forward to working with Keoni and making our own little fine art photo album following our wedding.
He'll also give us a URL for a slide show to see photos after the engagement session and wedding ... stay tuned!

Thank you, ATL Bridesmaids, for an AWESOME engagement party!

Katie Barton, Katie Nalley, Erin Wholey, Caroline Price, and Erica Schultz threw us the most wonderful engagement party on Saturday night ... thanks so much ladies for a great evening.
Special thanks to new parents, Katie and Spencer Barton, for opening their home to everyone. It was so much fun to have our Atlanta friends together and be officially out on the town as an engaged couple!
We especially enjoyed answering questions about each other (we did a terrible job, by the way) and practicing cutting the cake together.
It's so wonderful to feel the love and support of our friends as we move into this new phase of our lives. Cheesy ... but true! xoxo
Wedding Dress - Check!
Lucky me, my Mom and Dad came in town to take me wedding dress shopping this weekend. Dad opted to go golfing with Will and his Dad which sounds like it was a ton of fun. Mom and I were joined by Katie Nalley, Erin, and Caroline for expert advice.
We started our morning at La Raine's Boutique in the Virginia-Highlands (a neighborhood right around the corner from the house). La Raine's has moved from their St. Charles location to the old Harvest house on Highland Ave. It's such a lovely space now - very beautiful - and lots of personal attention. I tried on about 8-10 dresses and there were 2 serious contenders. We left La Raine's thinking we might have found the winning dress but opted to keep our appointment at Bridals by Lori for later that day.
But first, we stopped at fabulous Murphy's for some brunch and a bloody mary!
On to Bridals by Lori which was was a totally different experience altogether. I've bashed them on Yelp already so I won't do it again here. But the happy ending to this story is that we were absolutely sure that that very first dress that I tried on was IT! and so mom and I turned the car back to the Highlands and sealed the deal!
Of course, no photos for this post. :) But the dress is one of the ones featured on the La Raine's website ... so see if you can guess.
